Thorpe Park

OK- it wasn't the AR, but I went to Thorpe Park on Saturday.

My first time on rollercoasters for about 15-20 years. Last one was Spacestation Zero at Thorpe Park (remember that?!)

Went on Saw first- once I was on, I thought "Mmmm- I'm not too sure about this". What a ride! It's really intense. The 100 degree drop is stomach churning! Very, very good- long wait though (over 1 hour). Was shaking a bit when I got off!

Colossus was next- I laughed like a maniac all the way round and for about a minute after getting off- my favourite by far.

Then we went on X:\ No Way Out.

It goes backwards.

In pitch darkness.

Didn't enjoy it at all- I get motion sickness in cars if I try and read a book or send a text- this was the same, as I had no visual frame of reference to the sense of motion. Urrgh. It's quite a short ride, but long enough for me- though some people I'm sure think it's well tame. Never again!

Had a quick break then went on Nemesis: Inferno. I think the effects of X were still with me, as I was getting motion sick again- a shame as it's a great ride that I probably would have enjoyed more if I'd not been on X. Had a bit of trouble walking in a straight line after that!

Rumba Rapids was a nice gentle antidote to the manic coasters- though again I did start tripping out on the rotating platform- I think I'm going soft!

Last one was Stealth though- no loops or corkscrews, so I though S*d it- give it a go (I did er abit after coming off Nemesis- the 205ft peak looked a touch daunting). What a blast- my stomach was pinned to my spine when it launched (0-80 in 3.2 secs- the SV can't manage that!). The 200ft drop was a blast too (now that I had the hang of freefall!)- a great ride, if a little short.

I reckon the average of 30 minutes wait was just long enough to put yourself together after the last ride.

We had lunch, then some of the crowd went on Detonator- I think I'd rather taste a burger king meal just once..!

Well recommended- I'll definitely go there again. Not for 35 squids though- we had 2 for 1 vouchers, which made it easier!

You see- proof that everyone is completely different (and I'm probably getting a bit old!!).

You've gotta try Saw out- it's Ace!

yeah we wanted to but we were there the week it opened (i think) and it was a 5 hour or more queue, whilst queuing for samurai and looking at saw it didn't really look worth queing 5 hours for

The cameras in the back of the seats on SAW are great: nothing's as much fun as seeing how stupid you look when you're scared ****less! Wonder if anyone's dumb enough to buy the DVD though.

I was sitting in the front seats- so I didn't get to see the expression on my face. Fortunately.

I was rather silent for the first part of the ride!

unfortunately all british theme parks have been ruined for me as i've been to disney et al in florida. they knows how to run a park for sure. and they're blessed with the weather for the most part....

not been to thorpe park for about 20 years, sounds good tho, only about an hour from me, might give it a bash one day....
