Things to watch for when buying an SV?

Hi,
in the process of buying a 2001 SV650s (curvy model)

And was wondering if there are any faults and things to look out for when buying one?
I know early suzukis (GS) has charging and alternator probs! anything else that is a common fault with them?

Thanks! :D

No real "faults" as such. Try to find one with a good finish, check the heads on the major bolts cos they are made of cheese mainly and try if it has a fender extenda already on the front then even better.

thast all i can think of now.

rectifier hard to check when buying so honesty from seller is important
rust around rear sub frame is common but no dramas
dodgy electrics only when messed with and recifier as above
swingarm bearings most times a regrease is all it needs but alow for £30 if there is a problem
steering head bearings as above
seized rear callipers sv special ask when brakes were last seviced if at all allow £50 for time and effort to sort these out
camchain adjusters notoriusly prone to rust as are drive chain adjusters a proper dose of copper slip and a good strip and clean are easy fixs

batteries have a habit of dying on sv's £30-40 for new one
then just the usual look out for things on any bike eg chain and sprokets £100 tyres £180 brake pads £40 oil level and brake levels £25
