Orgers I need help with a new tyre choice.
HI,
Ok so I need a new back tyre and have Dunlop D208's on at the mo, I am not planning on getting another D208 for the back and my garage recommended BT021's but I've seen reviews on them and it's not good news, so was thinking of Michelin Pilot Power 2CT or i've heard of a tyre that is sticky on sides and harder in the middle (not sure of brand or name), any ideas? |

I've got the 021's and can't fault them...

avon storms... good in all conditions...

Re: Orgers I need help with a new tyre choice.
I think general concencous is either Michlelin Pilot Road 2CTs or Avon Storms for the SV.

What sort of riding? If you do anything other than hooning it at a VERY fast pace then I would recommend the storms.
But, if you are very rapid and never use the bike for anything but flat out mentalism, then something else will be more your bag. |

I'm not against mismatching per-se, but if you're not swapping the front to match I wouldn't worry about minute performance variations. Probably just go for the cheapest.

Re: Orgers I need help with a new tyre choice.
i know there are numerous threads regarding what tyre choice people recommend but should the riders weight be taken into consideration?
The reason i ask is if you have someone that recommends for instance Avons and weighs little more than a fag packet what difference would be made to the tyre for a (cough) 14st ish person? sorry for the slight derail |

Re: Orgers I need help with a new tyre choice.
For most road use (and track days in Novice / inters) some sort of sport touring tyre is the way to go.
Pick the one you like the look of / is going cheap. I've used Dunlop Roadsmarts, Pirelli Diablo Stradas, Continental Road attacks, Michelin Pilot ROAD 2s (Pilot power 2CTs are different, and I'd imagine pointlessly short lived on the SV). I can honestly say I've found them all to be very good. Jambo |
