2-stroke exhaust decarbonisiation

hi everyone just a quick question, how long should i leave the caustic soda solution in the exhaust system when decarbonising it? the manual says not to leave it overnight, but doesnt mention any other time frame.. is this a misprint?

cppl hours i would reckon. its usually just sludgy oil in there. i always used petrol to clean them out.
