front fork stantion alternative

hi all,i wonder if anyone knows of any forks that have rebound and damping adjustment that could be swopped into the sv pointy bottom legs.
as most forks are made by showa any stantion the same diameter and length should fit into the sv leg.i have made extended chop forks using moto cross stantions in the past so cannot see any problem as long as the length and diameter are the same.
any ideas which forks are same as sv with dampening adjustments ?
thanks andy

It's possible you're mis-understanding how the fork internals work. It's true that you could make up longer or shorter stanctions for the forks, but they would simply be the same damper-rod, non adjustable items. You cannot adjust the damping on a simple damper-rod fork externally.

Damping is controlled by adjusting rebound and compression resistance, in most forks the rebound adjuster is in the fork cap, the compression adjuster in the fork lower/slider. But for these to work they must be connected to cartridge internals.

So you would need to change the fork caps, the damping internals, the fork lower/slider. Bizarely the only piece you might hope to keep would be the stanction :D

If you require external damping adjustment search for "GSXR front end" or "GSXR forks" I garentee you'll find tons of information. If you just want the SV forks to have no adjustment but work better, look up "racetech emulators" and check the fork oil ane spring rate in your standard fork suits you.

easiest one would be cartridges from cbr600F3.

hi jambo,
my idea is to swop the full fork leg complete with internals into the pointy fork bottoms, the question is which one ? same fork diameter and length with pre load and dampind adjustment.
cheers andy

Listen to zadar. Just swap the internals, you still won't get comp. adjustment but you get better forks.

Or fit totally different front end.

First question... why do you want to do this? What is it about the forks that you feel the need to swap them?
