Front brakes scraping

Been out this evening and had to cut my ride short cos i noticed scraping noises coming from my front brakes when braking at speeds above 35-40mph. Im assuming its the pads but obviously cant check til daylight tomorrow. However, i just did a search on the forum and read a couple of threads mentioning that if you can hear a scraping noise then its been left too late and the discs may be warped so now im worrying!! Will it be obvious by looking at the discs whether they have warped or will i need to remove them to check them?
Also which make of replacement pads would you recommend?
I feel an early night with my haynes manual coming on!!
Apologies again for sounding like an idiot but....... i am one :p!! Im also really disappointed cos ive been trying really hard to look after the bike and find faults before they become a problem, obviously i need to try harder!

If you can get the front wheel off the ground hold a screwdriver or similar against the fork almost touching teh disc. Spin the wheel and look at the gap between the screwdriver and teh disc, should let you see if its warped

Not so much warped but you may have scored the discs if your pads have worn down to the metal back plates and rubbed on the discs.Have a look if there is any meat left on the pads.

Suzuki? Cheaper one side than EBC, more expensive the other side[1] last time I looked but worth asking.
