Help needed regards rear suspension...
Is there anyone localish to say Bassets Pole that has a Thou', weighs about 12/13 stone and is around 5-8 to 5-9 in height that has their rear suspension set up so they can actually touch the floor comfortably ( As in a bit more than the ball of your feet, No changed dog legs though ) that would be willing to meet up so I can compare the settings on their bike to those on mine ?...
Reason I ask is... When I bought the bike the previous rider was a lanky get, although I could just tip toe the bike the set up was spot on, it cornered like a cartoon bike, point it and it was there, perfect*...Now me being a shortish **** I had to drop the rear a touch so I could get the balls of my feet down but I still feel it's a tad to high and it now runs wide on corners, I've read and re-read "How To's " but I can't get my head around it all tbh and I don't want to start faffing about with settings and end up in a bush or worse... I'm not actually a " Quick " rider, but on saying that I'm not to slow either, I just want to be able to touch the floor comfortably and go round a corner without fear of running over white lines, also carry the Missus and rally gear either both together or singular, so if comparing settings on a set up bike will help I'm willing to give it a shot or if some kind soul is willing to set it up for me and test it out ( insurance covering and no road warriors I:E not going to blast through Scameras, already have three points ) then yeah I'm all for it... Any help or advice is Greatly appreciated... * Turns out after having it Dyno'd it was set up for track day use, hense the cartoon corners, was great on motorways but rubbish round town, and petrol-I got bored of filling it up... |
Re: Help needed regards rear suspension...
Cant help you sort it out as I don't have the same bike but as you have dropped the back I would also recommend dropping the front through the yokes by a centimeter or so. That should quicken up the cornering and stop it going wide, if you find its better but still running wide drop it through a bit more.
This may also drop the bike enough to give you a bit more contact with the ground at a stand still. |
