speedo not working this morning

On my ride to work today, the speedo stopped working after about 30 miles - what could have caused this?

the front wheel was taken out last night so i could do the fork seals - could I have damaged the drive?

yeh take the wheel off again and see if any of the teeth have broken off, they are only plastic so its a pretty common thing to happen to them, dnt think they are dear to replace
