hi, i have just bought a 07 k7 sv650s, and only got it home the other night by a more experience rider, sat on it out in garage and it feels so heavy, will this be the case when moving or will it lighten up. i dont wana take it out and ddrop it, please help

Welcome to the forum:)

If your not used to bigger bikes they will feel heavy when you first start to move them about.
You'll soon get used to it though.
They also feel a lot lighter when your riding them ;)

Welcome Jimmy and i was recently in the same situation as you and the best advice i can offer is what i was told and that is to not focus on the weight of the bike, don't ignore it cause you'll drop it but when moving, it'll feel a lot lighter even at low speeds and at stops just try to put your foot down as natural as you can, if you rush anything because you're worried about the weight you're more likely to drop it, just take everything nice and gentle and naturally and you'll be fine mate.

i was like that im 17 and had a 50cc then got a 660cc (mt-03) at 210kg and when on the move they do lighten up, i would sugest pushing ure bike around the drive a bit forwad and back and you soon get used to it :)

Alright mate, where are you?

Maybe some local peeps could show you how to move it around, and take you out for a spin to help you get used to it. That's the only way you;ll get over it

P.S. I have a BlackBird and hardly feel any weight, unless manouvering up a slope. Again, only cos I'm used to it

To be honest, i went from a 125 cbr (tiny bike) to my 650 sports, and i drove it down the end of this blokes street i bought it off and stalled and with all my strength somehow managed not to drop it!

Now i ride it like it's just part of my limbs dead loose, flexible i chuck it about everywhere. Practice makes perfect comes in litreally with this mate. Just give it a few runs, also the wrong tyre pressures can make a bike feel really bludy heavy.

Welcome to the org!
I'm a noob myself and I can tell you the weight disappears with practice (like everyone else said). Two pieces of advice though:

1. Don't ever park/stop it with no room to go forward and the back of your bike on a small slope.. you'll have no option but to muscle it out of there

2. Whilst moving you won't feel the weight, so when stopping you might (like I did a couple of times) forget about the weight and come to a halt with the bike a little tilted or with the front wheel pointing to a side.. Then when you do stop, the weight becomes obvious all of a sudden and you might drop it (like I did a couple of times..) as it will tend to drag to one side..

I found my Gladius was a lot more stable than my tiny YBR 125. For example, when stopping, I had a second more to put my foot down before it felt like it was going to go over.

Yeah, it's heavy and if I drop it I need to pray someone else is around to help me pick it up (asked a stranger many a time when dropping the YBR, bin men are particularly polite)

(PS I reckon I could pick up the YBR now, but I'm not going to tip it over just to find out!!)

Don't worry, the two times my SV650S went over (gravel drive once, and embarrassing side-ways topple at traffic lights after front brakes working a bit too well!) I lifted it. I'm not big, just over 5'8", but managed it quite easily.

Remember its all in the legs! :rolleyes:
