Insurance Question - NCD

Hi all, quick question for you all.....

Can you use no claims discount on more than one policy/bike?

I've had to sign my SV over to my dad so now the insurance has to be in his name with me as named rider but he already has a fazer which he uses his 5 years NCD on....can he use his NCD on the SV as well or will we have to start from scratch?

Many thanks

Since when does the insurance policy have to be in the same name as the registered keeper? That's news to me my friend! :)

Oh and insurance policies are getting hot on people 'fronting' policies. Not worth the risk if this is what you are doing.

Tried to keep the insurance in my name but Bennetts and MCE both said had to be in my dad's name as its him on the logbook.

Not trying to pull anything naughty, just dont fancy having to pay £500 odd for insurance if we cant use his valid NCD, when last year on my own it was down to £230.

lol, MCE were ok(ish) when the policy was in my name. Seems like I may have to give in and pay the £500 odd premium.

Any recommendations on insurance companies?

Lost the plot here.
You have signed the bike to your dad.
Does he want to ride it with you as named driver? if so then get him to add it to his existing policy. Even if he doesn't want to ride it, this is a (dubious legality) route.
Or, are you saying you now want a new policy in your own name on a bike not registered to you?

Re: Insurance Question - NCD

If you will ride it more than your father does then the bike insurance policy has to be in your name regardless of who's name the actual bike is in. I'm sure some of the companies will insure the bike if it's not in your name.

Yeah, log book is now in dad's name and he wants to ride it with me as named rider on policy, as we will both be using the bike

However, if anyone does know of a company that will give me my own policy in my name that'd be very handy as i have my own NCD and will probably be easier to sort out.

I think he tried adding the bike to exsisting policy but couldnt. (Not sure why)

sorry for the confusion
