Heated grips - advice please!
Can anyone recommend good heated grips for an SV650? From the posts on here, there seem to be some issues with the Oxford ones I was going to get.
Should I just be spending the money on warmer gloves?! Thanks in advance. |
Re: Heated grips - advice please!
After the initial problem with the controller being bad on my Oxford Sports Hotgrips they've been fantastic. Warm up quickly, and on the 75% setting they're toasty warm in cold conditions. Usually have them on 40% if it's a bit nippy.
To be honest, though, unless you've got a set of gloves that keep the tops of your hands warm you're going to have chilly hands regardless. While the grips will keep your palms warm, that's about it unless you're cruising steadily without braking/changing gear. Get a set of warmer gloves first, then get heated grips if you're still cold afterwards (like me with my poor circulation :)) |
Re: Heated grips - advice please!
Daytona grips worked well, I had a set of Oxfords first and had loads of problems with them, dodgy controller, one side going much hotter than the other etc. I've had no problems at all with the Daytona ones yet.

Re: Heated grips - advice please!
Hmmm, the garage wanted £150 for the oxford grips including fitting them (and that's the cheapest of the three quotes I obtained). This seems a lot for fitting but I'm not sure I'm up to wiring them in myself without supervision.
Don't suppose anyone in or around London with some experience of this fancies helping me to fit them for £50.....? |
