....HELP... HP Battery Dilemma.....
Can someone please advice here. I phoned up hp to request a replacement battery for my laptop, my original battery is still good, just doesn’t last as long as its meant to, I get about an hour out it when running on a mid range power scheme. As my laptop is still under its 1 year, warranty a replacement was sent and the next day I received my new battery (excellent service). When I made the phone call, I was told that there would be instructions enclosed to return the original battery. As the original is still good working I want to keep it as a spare but I have received instructions on returning the original battery as it was sent with a return postage label. Do I really need to return the battery or could I get away with keeping it??? I think the reason they want it back is to dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way but I still want it. I have to phone the courier to collect it so I cannot get away with saying it was posted and it must have got lost. I was thinking of just keeping it and waiting to see if they contact me to return but I don’t want hit with a £90 bill for the new battery because I never returned the original. What do you guys think, Please advice Thanks |

i would return it, they have given you a new one, what's the problem. maybe they will give you a new laptop and you can keep the old one as well.

batteries are expensive, but large companies somtimes send returned units to a testing depo so they can test and log returns for trend data and a potential bigger issues

Re: ....HELP... HP Battery Dilemma.....
Returning the original part is a usual part of a PC warranty claim. Every time (!) the hard drive failed in my work Dell I had to send the old one back. Probably only for easily swapped items though.
Send it back or you may get some grief or invalidate your remaining warranty. |
