Hovis tribute ride Sat 31st October

Hovis tribute ride Sat 31st OctoberI don’t know if this thread has already been posted, but the SBW club is having a tribute ride out to Hovis on the 31.10.09. I believe it’s the route which was taken on the day of His accident. This is the actual post.

Meeting point M4 J35 Mcdees 1030
A48 Bridgend, Stormydown, Pyle, passed Margam Park to 1st catchup in layby before Mway J38 ( so that 125cc can nip down the A road to J40 ), for those not familiar the slip road onto the Mway is at J39
Off at J40, 3rd exit right onto A4107 Cwmavon, Afan Argoed, Cymmer, Blaengwynfi, carry on to the top of the mountain to the 2nd catchup in the carpark
A4061 to Treorchy, staying on the A4061 turn sharp left at the “T” junction at the bottom of the mountain, then at the “T” junction turn right, then at the traffic lights turn left, go through Treherbert up over the mountain to the 3rd catchup at the bottom of the mountain just before the roundabout
From the roundabout take the 3rd exit right, at next roundabout go ahead 2nd exit onto A4059 Penderyn/ Brecon, over the mountain to the “T” junction turn left onto A470 towards Brecon
4th catchup will be on the veranda/sbends car park
From car park, halfway down mountain take the turning left onto A4215 Defynnog/Sennybridge, at the “T” junction turn right onto A4067, then left and left again into Sennybridge onto the A40 towards Llandovery
Go through Trecastle, halfway along the straight we will stop at the old Motel to regroup as we will NOT BE ABLE TO STOP at the scene of the accident as the road is narrow
When we leave the motel we will go through Halfway and then past the garage
When the road becomes very twisty underneath the trees is where Hovis had his accident, the lead riders will make the appropriate gesture at the exact point.
