Need a new hobby
Having sold up my bikes (at least until spring but maybe forever :smt107) I am looking for a new hobby.
Want something to occupy me that doesn't involve faff and too much of a 'need to pre-plan for a huge drain on my time' type thing. That was the problem with trail riding for me, whole weekends and lots of pre- and post- faff. So looking for something I can pick up and do when I fancy, and maybe that has some element of tinkering related when I fancy an hour or so in the garage. Thoughts so far.... Fishing, used to do and quite enjoy, so a maybe. Lots of evening fiddling to do with tackle :p Shooting, again a maybe and I used to enjoy that but its getting pricey (clay shooting) these days and I'll need to get my guns down here from my Dad's etc. Can't really do just when fancy and I don't exactly live right out in country. Horse riding? Maybe pricey and need to book up etc. A small boat? Well I live in the right place but there's maintenance and marina fees but endless possibilities for sunday fiddling around I suppose. Project bike or car? Not very mechanically minded, a fettler and farkler rather than a mechanic. Oh and I get paranoid it will then not work. I had a Triumph Spitfire one time and didn't use it. Not really into fitness sports (ahem...) and I have zero perseverence so learning a skill isn't really on the cards. And I can't paint/draw/play anything blah...blah... linked to the above, most likely. And due to nature of my work rather not be studying or any such thing. Any ideas? Needs a winter and summer element as otherwise back to sqaure one in spring or autumn. What floats your boat that might float mine? Sensible ideas please, so if amusing make them damn amusing... |

Gets soggy if you do it outdoors.
I don't really want a money pit, Stretchie. |
Re: Need a new hobby
Get a cheap kit car / unfinished project...
that'll keep you busy for a few months and when finished you could possibly use it for track days. Or sell it on. What ever you decide, I'm sure your level headed approch to everything, You'll make the correct Hobby choice in the end. ;-) |

Re: Need a new hobby
I've just started playing darts, that said, it's not really a hobby. But it is bloody cheap, and can be a laugh with my mates, few beers, chuck a few arrows.
Yes, my life is not that entertaining. |
