CCT Paranoia and urban repair myths
Okay I'm convinced the slight ticking under load is my CCT about to lunch on my timing chain. This is probably just paranoia, but can anyone tell me just what a dodgy CCT sounds like?
I've been told putting your bike in 3rd gear and rolling it backwards can reset a CCT, is that true? Are CCTs repaired as a pair of singly if only one is noisy? Anyone had one, or two, replaced by a garage? If so how much and was it a main dealers or a non franchised bike repairers? Many thanks |
Re: CCT Paranoia and urban repair myths
remove the stud on top of the tensioner, wind it in with a long screw driver and then let it go once its fully wound-should pop back out and you should hear a difference -if it don't pop out its goosed and you need to change them.

Re: CCT Paranoia and urban repair myths
haha its a trade secret chris:smt016....standard cct is replaced by a simple bolt nut/nut affair...which fits as per oe cct but locks in position thus not allowing em to fail..plenty of lads on vtr forum do it..sv is no different....i drilled & tapped a m6 bolt to take a m4 bolt down the middle of it,end of m4 bolt ground down to fit in worm, then just screw m6 bolt up m4 bolt & into cct, tighten m4 lock nuts, ive had these in my storm, and its now past 30,000 miles with no problems & peace of mind

Hmm. Pics of this? How does the CCT work? I suppose I could go take the ones out of my lunched engine out, but I'm lazy ;)

Re: CCT Paranoia and urban repair myths
never had any problems on various bikes with cct issues..same principle...lock em off, a m8 of mine's vtr was at 90,000 miles when he sold it, and its still going with em locked off
