Help with Tv's
Evening everyone, hope your all ok. :smt039
Right the reason I am putting this thread up, is earlier today I was very happy watching the autumn internationals (wishing that England and the Wales would stuff the southern hemisphere teams :smt082)....anyway I pop out of the living room to go and get a drink of lovely cider :smt038. When I get back with said drink in one hand and another for continual drinking, to my shock and horror the tv has turned its self off , No Probs says I lets turn it back on and be on with it . At this point the tv makes some hissing and fizzing noises out of the speakers, and it passes away to the great tv shop in the sky :smt022. Now onto the important stuff I can now purchase a new flat screen Hd google box :smt026, The only question is in all of your honest opinions which is the best 40"ish tv to go for, The tv will only be used for watching Motorbikes, Rugby and playing on ma x-box. So please help me with my choice, because I know some of you guys and girls are very clued up and stuff like this |

I've just bought this one;
http://www.richersounds.com/product/...pana-txp42g10b It's frikken ace on Sky HD, blueray etc. Freeview is crystal clear too. Pete. |
Re: Help with Tv's
I don't know what to recommend, but I'd never buy a Sony TV. I use one at work and hate the fiddly little remote control and awkward on-screen menus.
LG seem to have a pretty good reputation. I've got a Hitachi at home and it's not bad, but not great either. Edit: That 37" LG for £399 that the Woozle posted above sounds like a genuine bargain. It's a high spec TV at a very reasonable price. |
Re: Help with Tv's
If you can get the LG go for it. Its no bargain, I bought one at £389 ages ago - but it is a brilliant set.
So good I later bought the 42 inch version for £699 with a free LG blu ray player. |
Re: Help with Tv's
i got a 37 incher, LG lcd that is, had it about two years now good as gold. :p

Re: Help with Tv's
Ooohh I am so glad I got the 42" LG now .... sounds like the right choise.
The contract ratio seems to be the best other than getting a Plasma, for the money that is. I got me a remote control, electric wall bracket too - I got a source if anyone wants one :) ..... lazy Woozle |
Re: Help with Tv's
so who talked you into having the bigger screen then?
|
Re: Help with Tv's
I've got a 37" LCD Hitachi, Wish I had got the Plasma that I had looked at. Remember if you get a plasma and you pause your xbox turn the tv off if your going to be leaving it for a while. Going to put some money away each month though and go about getting a 60" plasma ASAP.

Next thing I knew I was at home and online pressing buy ! Think he owns a gixer .... he is a BAD influence But non the less I fink for £700 I got the best spec tele. Could have gone for a lesser spec and spent a little less, can make use of my PS3 for blue ray now. Yeah BanditPat - Plasma's print an image on the screen don't they if left the same for long enough, meant to disappear tho but not sure. Plasmas are better pictures but have other down sides to LCD and LED displays. |
