Painting the fork sliders.

After starting to sand the corrosion off, ive decided if rather cut my own arm off with a butter knife than polish these up, i just dont have the will power lol.

So i've decided to paint them instead. I assume i need to prime, paint and then clear coat them. Can any one recommend a primer and top clear coat, does aluminium need a specific primer such as an acid etch?

Thank you.

Re: stantion painting

Just so we're clear the stanchion is the chromed upper part of the fork that goes into the yokes, the slider or lower is the bit you're painting I hope.

I think a few people have just used hammerite smooth, but a special metals / aluminium primer is a good idea for a base.
