Re: getting new bike but not taxed!!

you should have agreed with them to have it taxed so you can ride it away. After all its illegal to ride on the road without paying the tax (says the guy who just got a fine thru the post for not having had tax on his bike for the last 3 months )

Call them tomorrow, tell them to get it taxed so you can come pick it up and ride it away.

In reality tho, you can of course ride it home without tax, wait for the relevant paperwork to come thru and then go tax it yourself. ;)

If it is a new bike the garage has to tax it when they register it to you.If you mean a used bike you will get part of the registration doc with it,and you can go to the Post Office with your insurance cert and MOT to buy the tax.

yes you can pay the dealer and get them to do it but its far riskier riding the bike home with no tax and far more of a fine and points if you get caught than it is for tax too so i;d be more concerned about that myself tbh.

If its not insured you wont be able to tax it and nor will the dealer. And you shouldnt ride it uninsured.

Think he just said wont have the docs assume he is insured.

If not he runs risk of the bike being seized .... noone is that silly 8-[ as she thinks back to how many vehicles she has taken off people for no insurance

Providing you have insurance details and mot info you can do it on line.you may not have the tax disc but if you get stopped and receive a HO/RT/1 you will have all the appropriate dated documents in your possession before the last day[7] of the producer

The offence is failing to display the tax - still a £60 fine if you get a snotty copper - I mean an officer doing their job proper :)
