Air temperature sensor
Done a search and there is one old past about this but the links are out of date, so here's another to discuss.
Air temperature sensors/gauges on bikes. Do they have any on the more expensive bikes? Has anyone fitted one to the SV? I fancy putting one on mine because I ride throught the winter and would like a little advance warning if its getting near freezing. Nick |
Re: Air temperature sensor
keep and eye on the weather reports, and just be vigilant. If the temp does dip down, it takes a little while for ice to form anyway.
I think things like BMW's and stuff have an ambient air tempurature |
Re: Air temperature sensor
My R1 has one.

Re: Air temperature sensor
The curvy SV already has one for the carb heaters, you could possibly wire it up so it also illuminated a light when it turns on.

Re: Air temperature sensor
I think one of the later oxford mini-clocks had a temp display and a warning icon if the temp dropped below 3 degrees. Was too small for me so I took mine back before I got to use the indicator.

Thanks for the replys, I was hoping to be able to just buy a digital sensor that I could just stick on to the bike some where near the clocks. Doesn't look like it though . Am I the only one who wants one of these?? Thought it'd be a good idea over the winter to have some advance warning. Nick |
Re: Air temperature sensor
I thought about this last year and then decided that I'd more or less know if it was too cold to be riding around.

Re: Air temperature sensor
It's going to be cold enough for ice to form for next few months. Maybe it will be there, maybe not. You can still have ice on floor in shadows or not melted yet when air temp is much higher.
