Westminster parking

So, what's the verdict?
Thankfully I have the pleasure of having to find a parking space in Westminster, and paying £3.50 a week for the pleasure.
This morning (just after 9 am) it took 4 different parking places before I found a space. So would it be sacrilege to suggest that it would be better if the charge was higher,8-[ because it still looks as if a lot of bikes a 'dumped' in the parking spaces. (I leave quite late at 7pm and they are usually almost just as full with a lot of bikes not moving).

Yes I know, posted elsewhere

it would be better for Westminster to provide more spaces - like that's going to happen

the other point to my post is that I use a cover and lock it onto the bike. 4 days now & it's not been disturbed so I'm guessing no one has checked if I've paid (which I have) so what's going on? do we not need to pay? & it's just a con? :smt102

There was a recent discussion about how many reg plates had been going missing off bikes recently and what can be done about it. The sensible thinking was to take the plate with you and leave a note explaining why, in case some nosey plod had nothing better to do.

Now, if you did that as well as used a cover i would guess you could pretty much get away without paying for parking and no one would be none the wiser.

Hypothetically speaking of course Stu.

Sorry ...... I ommitted to say ......'a few less CAR parking spaces would make all the difference' ...... 1 less car parking space, means at least 8 new parking spaces for bikes !!!
The balance is all wrong IMO .....

Yeah I knew that from the start.
But it doesn't make financial sense.
Bike parking at it's current rate of 10p per hour can't compare to the £4.40 per hour for a car (in the morning, £3.30 in the afternoon) even at 8 to 1.

I'm suggesting the unthinkable that bike parking should be more expensive to ensure there is sufficient provision, rather than avoiding the charge

i doubt that would make a difference unless they made the tax considerably more. which i struggle to see how the powers that be could justify, when motorcycles instead of cars help ease traffic.
