Aftermarket Baffle?
 

Quick question (or four), my bike has a race can and tbh it's a bit to loud for me so I was thinking about getting a new can however I then thought about getting a baffle for the can, for example:

the questions are:

Does this make it legal?
Does this cause damage to anything in the long run and hence a new exhaust would be so much better?
Do I really need to get it's fuelling etc checked and re done if I get one?
Should I have my head examined for considering making the bike a bit (not totally but a bit) quieter?

BUT (A VERY BIG BUT) I would rather spend the money on something else, like fairings and other bits, it seems a waste to remove the can if I don't need to.

i would just stick a baffle in it (will be doing what they its mot time as i also have a race can, just a warning you do need to drill the exit pipe on the bottom to fit a grub screw to hold the baffle in

ps wont damage the exhast as far as im aware

yer - I'm not concerned about drilling a hole to fit tbh as the way I look at it, if I don't drill a hole the whole system will get canned. (pardon the pun)

hmm well im NOT puting the stock exhast on but dont mind the noise from mine you may want to repac it, should make it quieter, im just popping in a baffle for mot so may not even bother with the hole as long as it stays in when revving it......

It's a poor pic but the can is a Carbon Can Co race can in gold. Jury is still out on the gold colour for me as well but I'm warming to it.

looks nice :) but you canrt repack it :/ as its riveted unless you want to drill and rerivet, will be repacking mine soon as its geting louder and louder (mine unbolts)

lol yer, this has a great sound and if I lived on a remote island then I'd keep it as it is but the neighbours are the god fearing type and I just don't want them to have a reason to complain as we have good relationships. I just want to tone it down a bit at tick over and low revs as I'm pulling out. when I'm out it could be a straight through :-)

in the order you asked.

No it won't be legal, if the baffle is removable it's not legal no matter what marks the baffle or can carry.

If it's a slip on can on standard headers, then you'll be fine

It's not nessesary to get the fuelling changed, however a fuelling run on a dyno could improve things economy/power wise.

much depends on how you use your bike, a judgement call only you can make :smt102.

I do like the way they make no mention of legality.....:cool:

dropping a baffle in it will make it quieter any dbkiller should do the job and no need to mess with anything about fueling.

Yer interesting, I hadn't noticed that. I was looking at it like a slightly cheap Beowulf. The Beowulf I had on my pointy was a lovely exhaust, loud in all the right places so at 145 quid I'd not rule that one out.
