More bad luck!
So I am now signed off work with a neck injury after an accident at work... :hackedoff:
On Wednesday afternoon I was alone in the bike department when a customer asked me for a bike to take away in its box so they could build it at home. Fair enough, so after a bit of a search I discover that the bikes are all locked away in one place and stacked up really high. :( Not only are they stacked up, but they are wobbly and not very safe and as such when I try to move one, they fall on me and I get an eleven Kilo boxed bike land on my neck and right shoulder. :hackedoff: The Boss is quite cross and says that he told my line manager, Quote:
The X-Ray comes back and shows a line through one of my vertebrate! :pale: I am sent back to X-Ray and and zapped again. The line was a glitch and is nothing to do with my spine... :-| and I am sent home and told it will all be fine. Yesterday was my day off and I spent it in pain at the F*****G Dentists because they had to fix my broken tooth, give me a clean and a small filling :smt021, but didn't worry about my shoulder because I was too busy being scared of the Dentist. :toss: So today I am in work and bending down to pick up a kids Star Wars Helmet when I get a very intense burning pain through my shoulder that causes me to go ouch. :smt091 Or more technically Quote:
The Doctor sees me thirty minutes late and is a bit scary looking, he also has blood down the front of his shirt and both Carol and I give each other uncertain looks... :smt087 He examines me and says Quote:
I guess not, Carol said that being me I should probably be signed off because she knows I will try to go back to work unless expressly told not to. He listens to her and tells me that I must take a week off work. :smt079 I get home and have a look at the sick note, he wrote my birth date in the place he should have put todays date. I get outside and wander to the chemist and buy some more painkillers and some chocolate. I am now back home, with a horrible pain in my neck and shoulder and more than a bit miffed! :smt013 So now what do I do? The CG125 was locked up in the store after my accident and Carol picked it up today in the Trailer and brought it home. She also fixed the head light that got broken when some thug pushed it over outside work a couple of weeks ago. I can't put my helmet on because it hurts my neck and as such I can't go for a ride. I am very very cross. I am also miffed because I got hurt in a really stupid way. :hackedoff: |

Re: More bad luck!
Hey JF, that sucks.
GWS... Hot water bottle, wrapped in a towel, on your neck. Followed by humungus bar of choc & a really good film to lose yourself in...I'd suggest loads of whiskety too but not with the painkillers |

Re: More bad luck!
Aw Jayne, thats sucks. I totally sympathise as i have recently had the last 4 weeks off work due to a neck/shoulder injury that i picked up over a year ago in an off. Its always been sore but 4 weeks ago i woke up after sleeping funny on it.
Been for x-rays now that have shown a misalignment of the bones in my shoulder (i'm sure the doc told m the technical words but i'll be dammed if i could remember then 4 seconds afterwards) and has referred me to a specialist. Best result...it will take some more phsio and possibly a good chiropractor to clck me back into place....at worst it may need surgery. Please god no surgery! All i have discovered tho is that some drugs do nothing to me at all but Co-Codamol is brilliant stuff :) Good luck Jayne, hope it eases and goes away soon. Also, have you even considered going down the "wheres theres a blame, theres a claim route"? Your employer has basically admitted liability for badly stacked stock having injured you. Not that i'm suggesting this course of action but just wondering if you have considered it. |
Re: More bad luck!
Poor Jayne. Know how that feels spent a year in constant pain, before some nice man told me it was likely that I'd fractured a vertebra, but was more or less healed anyway....yeah ta to the guy who missed it the year before on the same xray :smt097
here have one of these http://www.nwa.edu/media/SmileyHug.gif |
Re: More bad luck!
Thanks for the kind words folks, I am a lot less cross today and having just had a nice long sleep that may have been pain killer assisted, I feel all soft and cuddly. Off to cuddle up with Carol and the cats.
Hugs |
Re: More bad luck!
Where there's pain there's a claim...
Looks like a job for Ed. Sorry to hear of your misfortune Jayne. |
