Woo, homemade pasta!

Who else does it? I had a much wanted pasta machine for my birthday and last night and tonight, I have made pasta.........Nom nom nom!

It seems to have a better texture, more body to it that store bought and more flavour too.

Last night, did tagliatelli...

and tonight, I made up my own new pasta shape as I just tried to do something that would hold sauce nicely....Stretchie helped too, so this is the all new STRAY pasta!

I am loving it...and so is Dan. Tonight we had the Stray pasta with a creme fraiche and pesto sauce with bacon and chicken. Was lush, but ate it too quickly to take a picture of that :-)

So...who else makes pasta at home and as I'm a newbie...got any tips???

Looks good Grunty - how much work (read FAFF) is involved to make your own?

2 cups 00 flour and two large eggs. Put the flour on a work surface, make a well in the middle, break the eggs in and mix with a fork, working the flour from the edges bit by bit. When you can't mix any more flour with the fork......start using your fingers to bring it to a dough, then need for two mins, wrap in cling film, rest for 30 mins and off you go. I ran it through the pasta maker, decresing the tickness each time for 8 times, folding when needed. All in all, stupidly ridiculously easy to make....Stretchie had a go too...it's incredibly satisfying to see it coming out of the pasta maker and then doing what you want with it. Just shape it or run it through a cut setting, leave to dry for 40 mins or so and cook....

Easy peasy, lemony squeezy!:chef:

Well, I could really tell the difference. I would say that if you are making spaghetti or a tagliatelli type pasta, you need to dry it out for a fair old while, maybe drying for 20 mins, curling into nests and drying for a couple of hours so it keeps a nice firm texture when cooked, but the Stray pasta I did tonight only dried for 40 mins and was lovely. Also, use really good eggs, much better colour and flavour then! Next I am going to make green pasta with spinach!

I never wasn't Tony...life just paused a bit when Hovis died and I was on here A LOT, but couldn't stay like that forever and I am just not on here as much now, like before. Actually, I have been super quiet lately but only because I've had lots on. :-)
