starting probs

I know this has been covered lots im sure.

I have a Track day on sat and have little time to sort this. I Last used the bike on friday, and was working on it over the weekend.

I went out last night to start it, and 1st time no problems. This morning went to use it for work, lights all on but wont fire up. It tries to fire for the 1st /2nd time then a nasty noise which i guess is the starter motor not spinning. So i am a little :smt013 that in the space of 12hrs its shafted its self.

Its always started first time.

Any ideas before i go by a new battery?

Many thanks for your help once again.:)

Re: starting probs

Sounds similar to my curvy, would work fine for weeks every day, then would go out in afternoon after work or something & would not start, would only very slow crank for couple of seconds.
Have changed out the battery 3 weeks ago, starts on the pin, no problems again (so far) I think like others on here had said battery was not dead, but on the way.
Give Batteryman a ring at MDS absolute top deal, very very very quick delivery, top service & prices are fantastic.
Do a search for Debbie, ring& quote you are on the forum & should get the discount.

Your not alone mate looks like I won't be riding saturday either.

Bike tried twice then fired but died, won't start since (felt like it had plenty of battery, sounded like it was trying hard enough) left it for 20 mins incase I'd flooded it tried it again til the battery completely drained.

:(

Good luck with yours

aye, I'm gonna charge it over night. If it starts tomorrow I can get a battery in the day. If not I'm screwed.

Spotted this on the DD conspiracy thread, sounded simialr to your prob (on a curvy too) http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=116272

Mine doesn't make a buzzz noise ,until I'd completely drained the battery, chugging and trying to fire.

Deffo sods law is wat it is. Yeah I read the post on the track day section. I'm hoping it's not totaly kerpoot. Mine now starts on the button 1st time again after a few hr charging. If after a few hrs it can't hold the charge I'll be sourcing a new 1. Battery should hold the charge for 2 weeks if in good condition. Also if alarm that will drain it over a few weeks.

Hmm that's making me optimistic. Mines not been started in a couple of weeks and it has an alarm. Infact providing it is the battery that's the problem maybe that means I won't necessarily need a new one - it just needs charging.
