Yet more bike show pics

Change of plan and was at the show yesterday. Had the usual fun wandering round, got myself some nice winter gloves (Spada Enforcers)
I'm now officially a walking ad for ride triangles, my whole winter kit is recommended.

Best part of the day was giving my camera a good try out with decent subjects :) A very willing actor (Jon) helped too, made it such fun to take some funny pics.

Enjoy!

Don't think I could ride it if I had something like that, I like a plain bike like my SV, something I can use day in day out in any weather without feeling guilty and having to clean it the moment I'm back, spending longer doing that than I actually rode it for heh.

Tempted by a supermoto style one next, although not full on, I ride carefully heh :) was looking at the Yamaha XT660 X was looking favourable. Can't justify paying more than £300 insurance so that should do nicely.

An ST was coming in at £1k, topping out with a GSXR1000 for £2.8k fully comp, hayabusa was less but still not affordable heh.

Quality pics mate, none of mine came out anywhere as near as good as that, the low lighting and the shiny bikes confuse my camera.

What camer did you use? Is it an SLR?

Thanks, it was my new (ish, had it almost 6 months) 450d, I've got a 28-300mm lens on it which does almost everything, unfortunately meant standing quite a way back from the bikes taking pics, hence the crappy ones of the custom ones, couldn't get it all in and miss the barrier.

I was pleased with the way most came out, had to ramp the ISO all the way to 1600 though as otherwise it was just too blurry. (just for reference, I had to bin a load of shots, I took 357 whilst there, and only 90 made the cut as to be passable) its not that having an SLR makes every shot a winner, just gives you a few more settings to tweak to help make getting a decent shot a bit easier.

Managed to get some half decent ones last year with my canon S3 but its hardly a compact camera itself, was a bulky super zoom. But even that got thrown by the reflections and low light as you say.

Made the day more fun for me anyhow, I then spent almost 2 hours tweaking the shots in lightroom and making them look good so its nice that its appreciated and others think it makes them look good :)

The only bad thing about it is, I can't decide if I want bike stuff now or more camera stuff :D

I've just got a cheap(ish) compact camera and was thinking if getting an SLR but I wouldn't want to lug it about. As you can see by my shot of the motorcross bikes yours is def worth the extra money

Thats not a bad shot!, with mine it was difficult for it not to be so blurry it looked like I'd given the camera to a passing 3 year old.
Think I'd need a £350+ lens to do any good at the supercross, yours is pretty sharp, just to keep it that way it had to underexpose it a little.

DSLRs are great but they are a pain to lug, I wore mine around my neck the whole day (to avoid carrying the rucksack for it) and my neck started aching pretty quick.
I'm not sure the difference between the shots is worth £600 but I opted for the DSLR for longer exposure pictures which I just couldn't do on my S3. Horses for courses really, like everything else, but I like that your camera managed to keep the exposure time down.

After a few quick tweaks there isn't much difference in the result:
