I've been Serviced and Shocked by Spanner Man and Wild Bill
Thought I'd finally get a report in!
Last Saturday there was all sorts of drilling, screwing, pumping, bouncing, lubing, greasing and general dirty goings on at Stewart's Motorcycles. Oh- and some work done on The Yellow Peril too. So now I have a lovely pair of Hagon fork springs in, new rear pads and greased head bearings. I had a few seized/snapped bolts done too. Have to say hats off to Stewart and Bill- a fine pair of chaps with a wicked (and often very, very rude) sense of humour- and I wasn't even charged for the entertainment! The bike is now far lovelier to ride- just floats into the corners and the serious diving that happened during braking has gone away. So I can happily follow AlpineStarHero's recommendation of Hagon (I'm gonna get the rear shock done when bonus turns up too). Also some edjication- I found that I was fitting the shims in the wrong way on the rear pads- so was going through them way quicker than the front pads. It also warped the disc- had that replaced today so I've got a new EBC rear disc and the bike handles even better (less travel on the brake lever!). All that and I serviced the bike on Tuesday- plugs, filters and fluids. Needs the carbs balancing, but I'll do that once I've got some time and a decent dry day. She actually starts on choke now (was getting well hard to get started in the morning). I'll bang some pics up when I've got them uploaded. That V-8 van is a beast and stunning too! Sadly the Capri's been sold now- I would have seriously considered it if I had the cash... Oh and DirtyDog- you'd be amused at the work needed to get the front pad pins out!! And glad someone else was doing it!! |

Hagons are good.
How were you fitting the shims the wrong way? You mean the s/s backing plates? |
Re: I've been Serviced and Shocked by Spanner Man and Wild Bill
Yeah- had them on the leading edge of the pads. The pads gripped stronger, but wore quicker. Duh!

So long as Bill retains the A-Team van for the forseeable future, then all is ok

Good morning all.
Glad you're happy with your bike Donal. Shame I forgot to charge you for the entertainment............Actually it's free to all customers, but PC pink fluffy brigade be aware, you might be offended!:D Sdaly the Capri had to go, something to do with an excessive VAT return. I'll just have to get something louder & larier than Bills van next year.:D Cheers. |
