had a pint last night?

I know it is christmas and easy pickings for those in the plumbing profession. Last week I was stopped, questioned and sent on my way by the boys in blue (and fluorescent yellow) on my way to work at 7:30am.

This morning they are back again, this time I did have a few last night, well 4 to be precise. I reasoned that my body should have dumped the alcohol in the 8 hours from my last pint to getting in the car. But seeing them waving in traffic this morning my heart (yes I do have one) was well and truly in my mouth. Fortunately the nice man wave me on.

So I guess I will not be playing out on school nights in future for a while.

What? :-k

12 hours for 4 pints?

pints is around 2.5 units, so four are around 10 units..

It's around 1 unit per hour?

Yeah.... the pipe-benders catch more during the morning after than they do during the previous night.

Time to be careful for sure, but I don't mind as it's a good excuse for them to check insurance, MOT, etc.

no sorry sal -should have worded that better-min of twelve hours from having two pints-but as always it all depends on your bodies ability to process alcohol-best advice would be don't drink at all if you plan on driving next day.
Got a drink driving thing coming up soon -gonna be like shooting fish in a barrel.

1 unit per hour I believe.

After 4 pints some people would drive immediately and think nothing of it (I wouldn't). 12 hours later I personally would assume I was ok - I had 5 pints yesterday evening and would have driven this morning without a second thought (but I commute by train so had no need to).

12 hours to process 2 pints? :\
Wow seriously? That's scary...
Or do you mean 12 hours after you have had 2 pints, and go onto have another 2?

Most police forces have a Xmas drink driving initiative?
Doesnt affect me this year, won't be able to ride the bike till next year :(

The BBC says 1 hour per unit: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3303805.stm

So 4 pints is about 10 units, so 10 hours.

I don't believe Husky03's figure of 12 hours for 2 pints.

its 1hour per unit, half an hour to an hour after you've stopped drinking.
That's for someone healthy - everyone's different.

I got stopped on my way home last year, copper was a twunt about it. Blues and twos came on (was doing just under the limit, 5pm on my way home from work), pulled me over then told me he was stopping me for jumping a red light (I hadn't) continued with the looming threat of this imaginery offence despite me politely correcting him each time he mentioned it. then made me sit in the back of the car as soon as he pulled out the breathylizer it clicked. I said 'oh yeah, it's christmas' and he kind of nodded. As soon as we established I had no booze in my blood he was ok, still don't agree with being stopped like that though. twit.
