Cage Rage

Well there I was waiting at some lights in the inside lane of a 2 lane road. There was a junction to my right controlled by lights as well. Their light went red when a Corsa decided that red didn't mean stop and really slowly carried on into the outside lane of where I was headed. My light had gone green just as they came out but I slowed to let the light jumper out anyway. No point in being bloody minded about it and being knocked off I thought. As I approach the car it decides it wants to occupy the space I am in although didn't indicate its intention to do so. I give it a generous hoot to let them know I am there. As I get in front they start hooting back. 'The Cheek', I thought.

Coming upto the next set of lights the car pulls alongside me, woman driver screaming "Are you trying to get yourself killed?". At this point I am genuinely stuck for words. I explain that they had clearly jumped the lights and then tried to change lanes without indicating or checking it was safe to do so but the woman and male passenger were far too busy telling me how dangerous I was riding. Then the passenger, a rather grumpy fat and old gentleman, explained how I had clearly jumped the lights and that's why bikers always got killed. He also threatened to get out of the car and "Teach me a lesson". At this point I nearly fell off my bike laughing so hard. It just amazes me that drivers are that blind and take such little notice then always blame someone else. Today I am seething about it and I really wished the guy had got out of his car, let him hit me (I'm wearing protective gear afterall) then smack him about in 'self defense' but then I would probably end up being the criminal. I know I shouldn't let it bother me but this one really has riled me.

Grrrrr.

It did cross my mind, but there are CCTV camera's at those lights plus the driver was a woman (surprise ;)) and didn't want to scare her. Her passenger though was a total moron.

Count to ten or maybe even a hundred Dan ;)

We are always going to be the culprits and the"innocent" motorist, the victim

Best not to get involved. Imagine the Media headlines: "Unprovoked attack by a biker on a woman and heroic elderly passenger who tried to protect her. Hanging is too good for him."

Glad you survived unscathed, could have been a lot worse

You did exactly the right thing .... let them know you're not impressed .... but remain in control ....

Truth be told they know they were at fault later .....

I love seeing stressed drivers like that ..... and then being able to disappear in to the distant all calm whilst they sit in traffic seething !! lol.

I'm calm 99% of the time .... but on occasion someones door mirror will bear the brunt .- not enough to break it -only to put their heart in thir mouth ... like the time some kid in a Rover decided he'd make (on purpose) it impossible for me to filter down the centre of a very slow moving dual carriageway ......didn't feel great afterwards..... but he pushed me too far that time :-)

Ha. There are some idiots about, no doubt about it mate. Just make sure you see them like you did this time. Well handled id say. Oh and could you draw a picture to show what happened? Im not certain with the explanation...

Leave them to it fella, just be cautious of them trying to take your life.

A bloke threatened me whilst I was filtering through to the front of the traffic lights, caught up with me and told me I was very dangerous doing so. I was baffled as I was doing 5 to 10mph through standing traffic.

On another note, the telegraph will back you up if I ever gets worse - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...t-drivers.html

See you need a faster comeback.

"go on then, you get on sunshine and give me a beating of my life.. Never mind the fact i've got protective gear on which saves me froma 150mph crash, a bash hat, but sure, you get your lardy **** out and come give me a beating...."

I've used that one frequently. Funnily enough, no-ones got out.

Ahhh I miss the London commute banter... Travelling, I don't miss. Banter, I do :(
