cables and lengths

Hey all.

Is it possible to make custom-length clutch and choke cables, or to have them made, for not too expensive cost?

I really need some shorter cables for my '00 sv650(n) that I've modified with clip ons, not sure where to look for non-standard length cables and brake line. i got throttle cables from an old sv650s which seem to be fine but not sure if a sv650s clutch and choke cable will fit as the clip ons i've got actually are lower than than the sorts version. maybe someone knows of cables from an other machine that would fit perfectly?

cheers

cheers for that i'll give them a ring when i next get a day off. cant believe there is no other bikes that would have a shorter length cable that i could nab from. or would these have different ends on them?

I would guess (and it is only a guess) that the stock SVS clutch+choke cables would do it. I fitted higher clip-ons on my SK1 and the stock cables were easy to reroute to give a nice run. I'd be surprised if your bars will be outside the range of the std cables, of course I'm bound to be wrong!

thanks for the input embee but what i actually ment (unless i've read your post wrong) is that i've installed clip ons onto my svn that are actually lower than the stock svs.

oh and btw. std cables. surely you dont mean sexually transmitted disease cables! hope there are meds you can take for that. jk ;)
cheers

cheapest bet is most likely the stock SV-S ones. Worth a go for price.

Yes, your explanation was clear. :thumleft:

I was suggesting that based on my experience of fitting different clip-ons on my SVS, your bars would have to be a lot different to the stock SVS ones for stock cables not to fit. The different height is the easiest thing to accommodate because of the way the cables bend out away from the headstock/frame.
As YC says, it's got to be the cheapest/easiest/neatest solution if they do fit OK. I haven't bought a clutch cable for mine but from what I recall of others, they come in at around £12 or so (maybe a bit more now).

You could almost certainly get a knackered one for free or cost of postage to check length :-)
