Fitting an Evotech Tail Tidy (normal indicators)
on an SV650 SPORT SK8.
If you have never fitted a tail tidy before and have little or no knowledge of working on bikes then I hope that this is of some use to you. To take all of the bits off the bike is easy and the instructions that come in the box are really concise. When it comes to taking the indicators, number plate light and number plate off and putting them on the tail tidy there is a zinc coloured metal bar between the indicators, this is not needed and it can be discarded. When putting the indicators onto the tail tidy I had to make another washer for which I used the big rubber grommet as a template to cut around and a piece from a roll of QUALITY damp proof course as the washer itself otherwise the indicators wobbled. FITTING washers underneath the fixing screws does not work (trust me its just too dificult to explain why not without the aid of pictures which I dont have) The connector clips on the indicators is not pinched and then pulled apart as I thought it should instead it is pulled and then the two parts of the clip are pulled apart (sorry for the description), I am sure this point is due to my inexperience. I was dissapointed that the fuse holder once the tail tidy had been fitted just laid under the seat although I think Im going to make some kind of fixing bracket for it. You will also need a plastic glue to stick the dip stick retaining clip back on (I think its an oil dipstick under the seat - Oh my god as I am writing this Im thinking what if its not an oil dipstick - correct me if Im wrong please lol:) I also found the only way I could put the tail piece back on in exactly the right place was to slide it onto the bike then fit the four plastic push clips into place first. If you have a legal number plate 9x7 and you are hoping to fit it onto your newly fitted tail tidy it will need re drilling only a minor thing but to fit the old one on and have two additional holes really looks unsightly (Im sure a lot of people might think this is a little trivial but its just FYI) I did not have to drill any holes as others have said. |

Re: Fitting an Evotech Tail Tidy (normal indicators)
I always drill my Evotech tail tidy to accept the clip that holds the Tank Prop.
They are top notch though. |
