Projectors

im thinking of buying one of these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HDMI-LCD-HD-re...ht_4275wt_1062

but i have a few questions about it, emailed the seller, no reply, gotta love Chinese sellers....

Right it will be used for the ps3, xbox, macbook and freeview, all of which it can support, but i also notice it states its 1080p, and that it supports all the resolutions, but the native resolution is 1024x768

the native resolution im asuming is the actual lcd resolution inside it, meaning it cant be 1080p?

anyone have a better understanding of this??

It means that it should accept a 1080p signal (which is 1920x1080) and downscale it to 1024x768.

It's a standard definition (SD) projector, not a hi-def one. I've no idea what this particular projector is like, though it should give a reasonable image with a DVD player or Xbox. I've got an old-ish Sharp DLP projector with this resolution and it can look very impressive with DVDs. Still, caveat emptor.

Edit: He seems to have good Ebay feedback. If you do get one, can you post and tell us what you think of it?

We watched things such as the Cricket, Darts, Football and a couple of Movies in HD on one at my ex's Auntie's over Christmas. It was however a Panasonic Unit, but they are well worth the money, unbelievably crisp picture.

Careful with that one. I wouldn't trust the seller for two reasons. First the giant text and over-use of capital letters and colours in their ad. That doesn't exactly suggest that they're professional. Second, I googled for that projector and *every* other site says that it's 800x600, not 1080p as they're claiming.

Re: Projectors

right fair points but if the projector is the spec which is stated on that auction it will actually be 1080p? had a look through the feedback thers no1 that seems disappointed, he seems to have sold quite a number of them

Ask him how many years warranty the projector carries and how many years warranty you get on the lamp
Oh and if he gives a reasonable reply reckon it'll be honoured?
Even the best projectors can go wrong from new, they're reasonably delicate things. How much do you trust this bloke to right it for you?
