camshaft holder pressure
When unscrewing the front cyclinder exhaust central cam holder bolts , there was a pressure release.
Is this normal? Cant tell if there a channel for cooling/oil from the manual. |
Re: camshaft holder pressure
Was it the last bolt you released? If so then it may have been the journal lifting off the cam and obviously they do have an oil feed, although I'd have been surprised if you still had any oil pressure given how long the engine must have been switched off by then.....

Re: camshaft holder pressure
Just the two middle bolts, a hiss sound, the thing wouldnt come off even with all bolts out, needed a rubber hammer.

Re: camshaft holder pressure
Yes, it is normal.

Re: camshaft holder pressure
Oil pressure?
|
Re: camshaft holder pressure
Not really oil pressure, you don't have any with motor not running. It is heat pressure build up inside bolt holes which are sealed when bolts are torqued down.
Oil feed is through hole in journal closest to cam sprocket, from there oil goes through cam to feed other journals. |
Re: camshaft holder pressure
Or it can be sucking sound because you create vacuum as you remove bolts out of a blind hole.
