Any EXUP experts here?

The EXUP servo on the R1 won't stop opening and closing. When I turn on the ignition it opens and closes as per the normal startup routine, then after about 2 or 3 seconds just keeps opening and closing. It does this with the ignition on but the bike not running and also with the bike running.

I've just had the cover off and cleaned it all up. Adjusted the cables. Less than 3mm play and when the servo stops ****ing about, the EXUP valve is centred between the two setting markers.

When you turn on the ignition the valve goes to full open to full shut, stops between the two markers momentarily then starts hunting.

Any ideas? Does it sound like the servo motor is FUBAR

Sounds to me that the motor and mechanics are OK but they're getting bad signals from upstream at the ECU or wiring between the EXUP and ECU...

Back to the dealer job then do you reckon?

I'm no exup expert but if its anything like the 2 stroke powervalves there is a circuit which feeds back where the servo is, if the exup is the same then if that circuit is dirty/corroded or has a bad contact it wont be able to accurately locate its position and may 'hunt'.

I'd ask a dealer at least, could be they can test the servo quickly.

I thought about taking the cover off and cleaning it all up, but it's under warranty so I've decided - bugger it - the dealer can sort it.
