Knackered USB Hard drive

Bought a Iomega 1.5TB USB had drive about 6 weeks ago.

Mainly use it for backup but I keep it plugged into my PS3 and store all my films on it.

Was watching a film last night, then played a game for a bit. After about an hour I wanted to watch another film.

Went onto the video bit and the USB drive wasnt there anymore. Turned the drive off and unplugged it. Plugged it back in and turned it back on and now it sounds like the drive tries to spin up but then doesnt.

It makes 3 quite loud noises followed by silence. I can tell the drive is not spinning as there is no gyroscopic effect when I pick it up.

Plug the drive into my laptop and the drive is recognised but never shows up in my computer.

Any ideas fellow org geeks???

Double check it's not just tripped up giving the drive a letter (pretty common on XP:> right click 'my computer'>manage>disk management.
But yeah could be knackered if you ain't bothered about your data get it done under warranty.

Not too bothered about the data, all the important stuff is on another PC.

Only problem is some of the stuff on there is a bit, ahem, well you know.

If it's the latter you gotta be careful (may well be {stop!}hammertime), otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.
