New bike choices?

Having had my curvy yellow SV650S for eight years, it's almost a part of me and just the thought of selling it makes me queasy!

However, eight years is a reasonable run. Plus it is in need of a non-holey petrol tank so isn't going anywhere at the moment .

So, what would you guys recommend I get next, bearing in mind I do love my SV?

Jenny

Is it too obvious a response to say 'another SV'...?

Re: New bike choices?

It very much depends on why you like the SV really or do you fancy a change to a different feel of engine, perhaps a little more information would help us, what do you use it for, how much, what sort of budget(New/secondhand) , is insurance a major issue, physical size/weight that kind of thing, plenty on here that have moved on from the SV; so I'm sure someone will have experience that'll help.

Cheers Mark.

Take a few test rides of different bikes and see what you likes best. Thats what I plan to do in March when i've been riding a year ;)

Depends on what you use the bike for and what your budget is. You might want to consider:

Pointy SV - why not, if you like SV's so much

BMW F800ST - nimble and lightweight sports-tourer

Street Triple - awesome street bike

What about another v twin perhaps an sv1000, aprilia rsv Mille, aprilia Falco or a Kawasaki Z1000.

But what's your budget? All above are an upgrade to the sv 650 in their own way.

z1000 isn't a v-twin.

It is a very lovely bike though.

Try something differant. Keep the SV by all means - maybe relegate it to use as a day-to-day machine, for riding into towns and stuff.

Get a go on an in-line four. I had the pleasure ( ! ) of riding a bandit in the summer. Lower down the revs, it was not as tractable as the SV engine, but wind it up above 8000 rpm, and it was just a brilliant brilliant feeling. It was a usable engine above 5000 rpm (but had terrible fueling below this, made it difficult for using in heavy traffic...im sure it was just badly set-up FI though)

+1 for street triple

Fazer 1000?

What about a sports bike...GSXR750?
