Engine Paint

http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...r+engine+paint

This thread talks about "Sonic Silver" paint code YD8. The thread mentions engine cases, but doesn't specify specifically that this paint is for the engine.

Is YD8 the right silver colour for the pointy engine (mine is a K6 with a black frame)?

Anyone know where it can be mixed up as a high temperature engine paint?

Thanks

I've used (high temp/bbq)hammerite and halfords stuff on exhausts.

My current SV engine's just had the paint stripped off and polished, low maintenance and looks ok.

No the engine is definitely not YD8.

OK thanks. If anyone reading this knows the correct colour code I'd appreciate it, but I'm not holding my breath as the questions been asked a million times on the org before and nobody's known the answer.

Might email them and see if they have an opinion on which of these is closest to the SV.

I'm tempted just to spray the whole engine black along with all the silver bits such as footpegs.

There's a Halfords high temperature paint that apparently looks good and gives a nice finish which a few folk seem to have used for the black engine on the curvy.

Give these people a go. I have used them, and they are exceedingly helpful. Although they do explain its not as simple as just the paint code you have.

They are used regularly by my local dealership.
