Fair Cop - Advice Please

Hi All,

Not a good post - was travelling back from Lpool this afternoon on Mway - was running late (No excuse) and opened the car up a bit on quiet stretch of M57. Looked down at speedo - thought Oh Crap and backed off to 80mph. Next thing - Blues in rear mirror closing fast - tucked in behind and pulled me. Fully marked Volvo - please get in the back sir....

So - he asks me, any idea why I pulled you? Yes Officer I was in a hurry to get back home and put my foot down to get past a car in middle lane. He says he was sat on Slip Road at the last junction - clocked me at 97mph :smt120 I was honest and very polite with the officer. Anyways he said I will write you a ticket for the offence - 3 points and £60 Fine..... 3mph more and you would be going to court my son.... [-o<

So is this right - Have I got off lightly? Anyone else had a similar offence?

And yes I know - I am a ****

I would say that was lucky! Cut off in our Force on motorway is 95mph for a summons to court!

Soooooo. As speedos are 10% out you were actually doing 112mph?
Or actualy you were doing an indicated 97 which mean in the real world you were only doing 89mph, which gives you an extra 11mph to play with :)

I don't think you got off lightly, you have just been given the appropriate penalty for the offence....

and Wancashire is funny.

No, he was clocked at 97mph - nothing to do with speedos. He was doing 97mph. What did they clock you with? VASCAR, ProLaser??

And he is lucky to get a ticket and not to be reported to the Court.

You got off lightly. I had similar on the M5 a few years ago in the car, same result, Fine & Points, few mph more would have been in court.

Listen to the nice policeman

100+ would likely have seen you in court staring down the possibility of a ban

I'd be overjoyed with 3 points for 97mph...

Thanks For the comments.

I will be more than happy to take the 3 points and fine - just wanted some reassurance that I would not be receiving a NIP in the post.

I have a producer for presenting my license within 7 days also.

Matt

No you wont, if they dealt with you at the side of the road and wrote you a ticket for fine & points, that'll be it.
