For years now our street has suffered from a known drug addict/dealer and his family, and all of the attendant noise/trouble/raids/fights etc that went along with them.

Just had a letter put through the door titled 'Positive Police Action' informing us that a closure order for three months has been obtained from local magistrates, with effect from today. Look out of the door, and the whole house has been boarded up.

Shame it's only for three months, but that's better than not at all!

lissa-you'll find that the police will be able to apply for an extension to the order prior to the three months finishing-the key to it is for the police to show the difference that the closure has had in the area-they need to show a reduction in crime/police attendance/complaints and be able to relate this to the timing of the order being granted.I done this a few years ago and can honestly say that it has transformed the area and that of the people who had to put up with the hell this type of scumbag bring.

That's good to know, Husky, thank you.

The people I've always felt sorriest for are the elderly lady who lives on one side of them, and the couple with the young child who live on the other side. At least now they may get some peace.

to help keep them out try getting all the neighbours to complete a before and after letter highlighting the antisocial stuff that they were subjected to and the effect it had on their day to day life,and the transformation they have welcomed since the closure-you'll be amazed at the weight this holds when an extension is applied for.
Police and councils are pushing the antisocial thing in a big way at the moment so make sure all the residents get behind this-keep on at your mp and let him know that he's there to work on your behalf.
