Rear caliper swap - quick question.
:) Hmm, so I might have been a bit hasty with the 'buy it now' button... maybe not, so I'll ask first. I gave away my tatty curvy rear caliper to a mate for his Bandit600, for which he very kindly furnished my shed with a pillar drill... which was awful nice of the chap! Ta dude.
My caliper was in need of a total rebuild and he had the time whereas I had my eye on one on ebay going for a song in mint condition. Besides it was about -20C in my shed and I'd only end up crushing my frozen fingers in the vice.....:silent: The new caliper is off a GSXR750 K1, looks much the same as SV/Busa/TL etc... so I took the plunge. Now it's here I see the banjo thread is wrong. I believe curvy SV's used 1mm pitch, anyone know what a K1 thread pitch is? So, i'll be needing a new banjo bolt, pitch of 1.25mm maybe. Can anyone confirm? |
Re: Rear caliper swap - quick question.
I know all those gsxr calipers that look like sv are in fact same and fit. Did not thing there was thread pitch difference, you may want to check if thread is damaged.

Thanks Zadar. Well that's a relief you think it fits. I did a forum search but couldn't find anyone using K1 onwards, so it then occurred to me that maybe the torque arm lug or axle mounted bracket had a different offset or something like that. I've offered it up to the bike last night and all seems ok. Quote:
Maybe the seller on ebay damaged it trying in the wrong bolt, just my luck lol. :( |
