Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
My insurance is due for renewal in a month so I've been getting quotes for the R1 from the major companies and I can't seem to get a decent quote :(
I'm with MCE at the moment and would really love to change company as their handling of my claim last year was borderline diabolical even though they eventually paid out. I'm currently paying around £400 fully comp with all the goodies (euro breakdown, legal etc), but I'm struggling to get a quote for anything less than £650 for the same level of cover. I've got 5 years no-claims which I would think would count for something too. I've tried Footman James (won't even cover me) and Swindon (£868  ). So, which insurance company are you with and was your last renewal price more than what you paid originally? I don't mind paying a bit extra for good cover, but £250 is taking the pee slightly. Cheers, Paul |

I had the same thing
give the co-operative insurance a try though as they were miles cheaper for me than anyone else by £500 |
Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
my best quotes by far have always been with Express but thats a Suzuki. See if Yamaha have a sponsored insurance company, they can ususally offer you teh best rates for thier bikes.

Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
About £260 for SV and GPZ TPFT through falcon bikes.

Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
Dang, £873 through Falcon, cheers for the name though YC.
Tried Yamaha insurance too but their online quote thing won't find my address  so I'll give them a call. Can't find motorbike insurance on the co-op website BB, did you have to call them? I've tried thebikeinsurer too sunshine and their cheapest quote is with MCE unfortunatley (£460). If I can't find a cheaper quote then it looks like I may well have to stay with MCE :pukel: Cheers for the suggestions so far guys, keep em coming. |
Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
Insurers have been quite busy this winter - lots of claims in the industry always push up the premiums for everybody.
Try adelaide - they usually match (and beat) the best quote. Or thebikeinsurer for loads of quotes. |
Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
Im with Devitt and they seemed pretty good. My insurance is up for renewal and has dropped fromm £800 ish to £170ish TPFT. Might be worth checking them out.
But i had heard that insurance policies where set to rise this year, but cant remember where i heard it.... |
Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
My girlfriends car insurance is up for renewal and I know that despite having a clean record etc and no changes to her policy her renewal is more than £100 dearer.
Its like Simesb says, the insurance companies had a busy winter and we are all subsidising those that dont bother with insurance and all those that make dodgy insurance claims. |
Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
I was surprised how cheap my litre bike cover was with Bikesure through the bikeinsurer, but then I've got a huge excess.
Another comparison site is MCN and you get a free magazine (Bike or Ride etc. just for a quote) http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/INSURANCE/ |
