Taxing bike - insurance database

Renewed cover last week, still can't tax bike as insurance database not updated. I'm concerned I'll get a fine from DVLA. Anyone know how long it takes to update a computer?

Depends on your insurer Ed. Some will update it almost immediately others seem less capable. You can still take your paperwork to the Post Office and get a tax disc immediately. :D

Quite quickly - I wasn't on once, but a quick call to the insurer and my bike popped up almost immediately. I "think" most big insurers update the db overnight.

When we insure vehciles at work, our broker have 14 days to get it onto the database

I don't know if this is in our contract or guidelines set

Generally they are very quick to do it but it can take up to 14 days. And thanks, you have just reminded me that my bike tax ran out a couple of days ago!

That's not the case MBK. In any case it's only 5 days now. And! only if you have applied for the tax, which in Ed's case he won't have cos he can't

And failure to display a valid tax disc is an absolute offence with no leeway ( in England )
