GSXR front end conversion using SV front wheel

Ok, I know its yet another GSXR front end conversion, but mine uses the SV front wheel and speedo drive. No glued in magnets or other things to make the speedo function.

Here's how it was done. I can't take the credit for the spindle idea, as I have to thank the guy i bought it off EBAY for. He'd done it for his wifes SV and got a local engineer to knock up the spindle. See below

Its in 3 pieces, spacer is fixed on the speedo side, with a similar spacer to the standard one on the other side.

Here's the dimensions, although the spindle & spacer are the wrong way round. All dimensions were measured with my digital vernier gauge, but don't use this drawing as an accurate guide

Forks are 1990 or 1991 GSXR750. Old hat tech, but the headstock bearings are the same as the SV's. So I could always get later forks if I needed

Yoke had lock stops welded in place by my seller. just needed filing down a bit. Neat job

SV wheel in place, nice and neat :smt060http://forums.sv650.org/picture.php?...pictureid=4061

My nice Gilles clip ons, ignore that rusty allen bolt, it won't be there for long.

The finished article, with colour matched front mudguard

Its not quite finished yet, as I've got some lower fairings to fit, and polish up the rear wheel to match the front.

I rode it out on the EAR spring rideout with no problems, although I guess I'll have to get the forks serviced, as I have no idea if they've ever been done.

Discs will be upgraded at some point too

Kept me occupied over this winter

Very neat.

Probably not as 'good' as a later GSX-R front end but I doubt it matters on the road, so much better than the original!

Fantastic. That's a great solution and so much neater than the magnets

Wish someone would make a bunch of those for the pointy....... and then send one back in time to me about 2 years ago :D
