Used values increasing?
Have used bike values increased in the past few years? I bought my K3 with 10k on it in 2007 (under 4 years old) for £1,700. I've now clocked up 30k on it an thought I would buy a lower milage one (looks a bit scruffy, but running well). I can't even find a K3 with low miles for under £2k. Whats going on?
Surely a bike that you could buy new for under £4,500 is worth less than 50% after 7 years?:smt091 I assumed my K3 would be worth about the value of the fuel in its tank by now, but maybe it's appreciated over the 3 years I've commuted on it! I sold my 2004 CBR6RR in 2007 for £3,900 with 7k on it, and 2004 CBR's seem to still sell for the same money!:( Maybe I should have kept it instead?! |

Re: Used values increasing?
so what are trade in values? they up too?
i too have a k3 with 30 on the clock, what would you say is a fair trade in? |
Re: Used values increasing?
people cant afford to buy new, so there buying used, but theres a limited number of used bike, so supply is lower than demand so the prices dont need to drop as much, or increases.
My curvy must be worth more than new sv now then! |
Re: Used values increasing?
Yep it's because of the increase in list prices for new bikes. Look at the latest 1000 sports bikes, all over £10,000 new now, last year list prices were £9,000-£9,500

Re: Used values increasing?
I wonder what I could get for my K9, given that I only payed £4k and the new ones are £5.5k. :)

Re: Used values increasing?
The lack of strength in the pound that has pushed up the list price of bikes, has the effect of making our second hand market more attractive for export, hence part of the increase. To the OP, I think you got a good price on your K3 which probably makes the market look higher now.
