Steering dampers - which one?
anyone fitted a steeing damper to the sv 650s
and can anyone recommend one |
Re: steering damper
Sprint ones are usually good for the money but unless your racing it why would you?
|
Re: steering damper
theres no need for one unless you have the rear end jacked up or a longer rear shock, or your racing
|
Re: steering damper
My rear is jacked up 35mm and the front is GSXR600 which are shorter forks so its on its nose, mines a track bike and I still dont need one :)

Re: steering damper
Really no need for a steering damper on the 650, at all.
|
Re: steering damper
i can make mine wobble with the rear raised 30mm + 8mm longer shock and 5mm drop on the forks but that could be because mines a naked
|
Re: steering damper
Even when my black one was jacked up at the rear, it didn't need a steering damper.
Sorry, Only big girls have one on ;-) I can understand for other bikes, but not the SV650. The thou has one AFAIK. |
Re: steering damper
The SV is quite a long bike so its quite stable
|
Re: steering damper
never sead i needed one lol, just sead i can make it twitch
i think it was a old magazine that had a k2 that were talking about modding the sv (found it on the web the other day had yellow pages (and yellow sv) cant find it now) they were talking about JHS and big bore and all that, and it sead the s version is ok to jack up but the N is not ? |
Re: steering damper
Couldn't honestly comment on jacking up a nakid as I only have the faired ones.
BTW I was only kidding about big girls. Still a very unnecessary purchase IMO. For instance, I'm looking to buy an Xtra Raptor later in the year. The VRaptor doesn't have a steering damper on, but the Xtra Raptor does, same bike apart from an upgrade in suspension, and loads of fancy carbon....owners rip the damper off as soon as they get it, so must be unnecessary. |
