How do I get the carbs off?
Hey guys,
I've petrol dribbling from the overflow on my front Carb. Either stuck float or leaky valve I guess. Tried carb cleaner and tapping it. No good. Next step is get the carbs out and have a look. Ran out of time this morning. Tank and airbox are off, then what fairings I'd say. Then to the carbs, how are they fixed. Any one want a curvy with a dodgy carb? |
Re: How do I get the carbs off.
To get my carbs off I had to tap around the clips on the intake rubbers, get a pair of molegrips on the threaded section of the bolt, and undo them from the rear as the head was ****ed. I unmounted the radiator from the frame, and moved the expansion bottle out of the way IIRC.
I'll take the curvy, if it's going free :p |
Re: How do I get the carbs off.
by shaving off your pwebs.
Sorry, is that a different joke? |
Re: How do I get the carbs off.
So they're only attached by the rubbers. With jubilee clips.

Re: How do I get the carbs off.
rather worryingly, i just pulled mine off without even undoing the jubilee clips, once there off there then undo the throttle cable and choke cable and iirc. thats it.

What size heads on those clips, don't want to butcher them.

Re: How do I get the carbs off.
Had mine off a few weeks ago to do choke plungers and was very easy to do and somthing i had never attempted to do before. Jubilee clips have phillips screw head or at least they did on mine.

Re: How do I get the carbs off?
Cheers GeoDude.....err I think I must have been refitting them when you posted this lol.
carbs all good now. However.......the throtle cables seem a bit tight and don't return very well. Can't see anything twisted or snagged? ps. love your workshop. |
