Update Re: SK5 Top Speed Query

Hi all,

Following on from my top speed thread, and the suggestion my SV could be restricted to 33bhp, I managed to test some things out on a track day this weekend.

1) I can hit 11'000 revs, I came off to change gear at this speed, the bike still kept going with revs. So the revs definatley red line.

2) After much trying on the straight bits of the track, I got up to a speedo indicated 125mph. The revs read 9500. I reckon a speedp indicated 130 is possible but I doubt much after that.

3) Bike flies to 60 and will get to 100 in what feels like the 10 second mark.

So, I am happy it aint restricted. As I said before, I dont care about top speed but dont want a restricted bike.

Same as. Was told a few k3's slipped through the net with a 1000rpm higher rev limit than normal.

That may explain why a few K3s spat rods out!

Yes, and snapped cranks!

Cranks snapping is an affliction of all of them sadly. Pointy got lighter flywheel, so should be a little less prone to it but it seems it needs big chunks removing from the flywheel.

only ever hit the rev limiter once and it didn't sound like the engine liked it, i missed a gear change, never been that side of 10,000 rpm since
