It's my car, Third party's insurance has w/o and paid out but deducted Scrap value as they don't want it, so I can have it :???:

Car is in Farnham and the Garage want £100 to deliver to Guildford, they said they wouldn't release it unless it was being lifted or towed. So any cheaper ideas or offers ;) to get it back to mine?

I'm thinking buying a new wing & indicator to bolt on - bit of filler in the door & she'll be reet? 8-[ [-o<

I'm far from an expert on fixing cars, but my first thought would be that modern cars are made of tinfoil and brie. So I'd want someone to check whether the chassis was straight before taking it anywhere.

If you've got a mate with a car trailer/dolly that would be the cheapest option. Next would be to ask your local garage how much they would charge to transport it. Failing that, £100 isn't much different from the cost of hiring a trailer so I'd be tempted to take their offer.

Wasn't a high speed impact, just a truck barging it's way past, so I guess it would be straight :smt102

i dunno, my dad had a 10mph crash in a Corsa and that bent the chassis, i couldnt believe it. Id want the chassis checked and also teh engine bay and internals for and unseen damage, its amazing what gets damaged even in a small crash.

If the chassis is not damaged/bent then yeah i would say you could get that back on the road. Could get the panel you need from a breakers yard pretty cheap. But would wna check the parts around the tyre like the drop link, anti roll bar mounts ect just to make sure they are fine....

What is the suspension and steering like on that side? Panelwork is cheap and easy to do on a Jap car because it's pretty much all bolt on, but the additional costs come with everything else, like new steering arms, racks, upper and lower suspension arms, twisted and bent subrames or twisted front chassis members.

Looking at the plate it appears to be a pre-2001 car - my thought would be to scrap it as it's never going to be worth more than sixpence no matter how much or how little you do to it.

Not sure how he managed it but as the truck undertook the stationary car it first made contact with the door, but it looks like the tyre/wheel was not touched. Think it's just cosmetic [-o<

I'd ask the insurance company to dispose of it and demand the salvage value from them as well.

And if they won't, tell them you don't think their treating you fairly, and that you will incur further costs in having it removed they are responsible for, and that they may expect a complaint to the ombudsman.

They should do so, most insurers will, our lot certainly should. (RBS).
