Hard to sell bikes these days?
Hmm anyone get the feeling its rather difficult selling a bike these days?
Had my RS 250 on ebay over 2 weeks and only had 1 person come view it and he was a dreamer. like these are hard to find and decent ones are very hard to find, being the last of there kind likely never anything like them to ever be manufactuered again youd think they would be more sort after. Took me about 3months to find this one when i bought it, didnt think it was gona take me that long to sell it! Maybe its the recession? everyones skint? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aprilia-RS-250...item27b0cbce78 |
Re: Hard to sell bikes these days?
Being totally honest, why would someone want a 250 2 stroke when they can have a five year younger Fireblade for less money?

Re: Hard to sell bikes these days?
Its a tad expensive for a little bike?
Looking at a thou tomorrow for a few quid more. |
Re: Hard to sell bikes these days?
My bro in law got an 01 Fireblade with extra goodies for £2150. Looking on ebay recently, people are expecting a lot for their bikes.

Re: Hard to sell bikes these days?
only thing that makes selling anything difficult is the price mate-check it on parkers and you'll see how far away your machine is priced from their guide-good luck in the sale though

Re: Hard to sell bikes these days?
For that kind of money, I can get my hands on all kinds of fantastic kit. A 250 2-stroke is a niche bike, totally focused, and you'll never get back the money you paid out for it and any extras.

Re: Hard to sell bikes these days?
You can sell anything up to and including your house if the price is right.

Re: Hard to sell bikes these days?
If I had the money and the space in the garage I'd have it. Sadly I have neither !
It is a niche purchase, but there is something about the RS250 that makes me really want to own one one day. Whats the bHP IIRC around the same as the SV, but I think its a lot lighter and nimbler. But theres always the spectre of seizure and IIRC dont they need frequent top end rebuilds. I spent alot of time looking at them before settling for my SV. I'd say if you are having trouble selling, you either are not advertising in the right place, or the price is to high. |

As for why the OP is finding it difficult to shift this example, I'd say its the price particularly with the current economy. Using the example above the FireBlade makes a more sensible choice as its more usable, the RS is very focused and will cost more to maintain if used regularly as it is intended. While I'm no expert on the prices of RS250's (3XV's are where my interest is) I'd say its at the top of the price range, for that model and year in that trim. Parkers though is way off. |
Re: Hard to sell bikes these days?
funnily enough I've noticed as a general trend the exact reverse, it's pretty easy to sell at the moment, as long as you are realistic and offer a ready to go practical package, the suns out and those without bikes are looking to buy.
