SV650 Service Manual
Hi Guys
New SV650 owner here from NZ. Returning to bikes after a 25 year gap. Have just bought a 2002 SV650. I'd like to get a service manual for it (I'd like to buy a real, paper copy). I see there are Clymer and Haynes manuals. What are your opinions on which is better? Thanks Dave |
Re: SV650 Service Manual
i prefer haynes.. .
some might disagree... :D |
Re: SV650 Service Manual
I always buy Haynes. They are good enough for the general repairs and servicing jobs. It has been known for them to contain one or two errors, but generally, they are a good reference manual. Don't always believe the spanner guide as to how difficult a job is though. Some jobs are listed as 5 spanners (expert mechanic) others listed as 1 spanner (granny could do it) but I have found this not to be necessarily true. I'll just read through the task in hand and make my own assessment as to if I could do it or not.

Re: SV650 Service Manual
I have both, the Clymer is slightly better with the picture references, and it always has a little bit more than you expect when looking for something. The Haynes is basic IMO.
I always grab the Clymer first when I need to read. Always good to have two to cross reference. Welcome aboard :-) |
Re: SV650 Service Manual
I use Haynes but only do basic servicing jobs. IMO you've found the best resource right here.
I'll read the Haynes first then have a good search on the .org - everythings been done on here before and the pictures are often better than any of the manuals. |
Re: SV650 Service Manual
Kiora - Haynes manual here, although I rarely use it.
