Rear jack up and soft front suspension.
Hi all,
I'm new to the sv world and have to say it's the best bike I've had. I bought a 2002 sv650s about 2 weeks ago an it's had a fender extender, scottoiler an heated grips fitted so less for me to do. Down side was it'd been lowered an they lost the original dog bones. I didn't fancy spending £35 so get some 15mm jack ups from cjaccessories for £15. I still think it's a bit low so need some advice please. They sell 25mm an 35mm and I'm not sure which to buy? I'm 5'10 by the way. I've also noticed the front end is a bit soft an I'm worried it'll bottom out under breaking when I take the back higher. Any advice on this plus any other tips would be much appreciated as I'm just starting on this bike and there is lots more I'd like to do |
Re: Rear jack up an soft front suspension
to start the front end will bottom out any way ;) , id sort that out soon, some springs for your weight and some 15w oil should get that up to better standard, id also look in to getting a new shock (second hand) zx10r i think fits the k2
i have 30mm jack ups on my k3 and 8mm+ rear shock length (gsxr1000) and the bike handles very well but was very soft on the front so got some .9kg springs and 10w oil to sort the front out, if i were you i would just go with the 30mm jack up bones and look in to fork springs and oil (£90ish all in for the front end) |
Re: Rear jack up an soft front suspension
Thanks for the info. I’ll order some 35mm bones and see how it feels.
Do you know if I’ll have any issues with the stand? Just thinking it'll lean more with the back higher. I don't want it falling over. |
Re: Rear jack up an soft front suspension
What's point when shock is still crap. I don't like raising links, raise it with a longer shock.
Why you think it is still low? Speed of turning? Anti-squat? |
Re: Rear jack up an soft front suspension
I don't really mind the rear shock I've had worse. The hight feels low when sitting on it my knees are still bent quite a bit with both feet flat

Re: Rear jack up and soft front suspension.
stand on my pointy is fine, although from what i remember about my mums curvy k1 the stand wasn't that good to start with but that was a long time ago since we had that bike so i might be wrong
